There’s nothing better on the picnic table in the backyard in the middle of summer than great smoked ribs and beef. And using a gas smoker opposed to charcoal or electric is easier and produce (in our opinion) great tasting smoked food.

We received this gas smoker in four days; and assembly was actually pretty easy. The instructions were clear, and we had this Outdoor Leisure 34168G ready to go in just unde an hour.
Outdoor Leisure 34168G Smoke Hollow Gas Smoker – Spectacular Smoked Food
Not only was this gas smoker easy to assemble; but once put togteher, it is a strong, stable unit. Coming in at 16 inches deep by 14 inches wide and 34 inches high, the Outdoor Leisure does not take up much space on the patio.
And at a lightweight 59 pounds and included handles on both sides, this smoker is very easy to move around the patio; or even take with you to a friend’s house.
But the best part about this gas smoker is that it creates some truly exceptional smoked food. We tested fish, poultry, and different beef cuts in this smoker; and all of them came out with a great, authentic BBQ smoked flavor.
I purchased a Smoke Hollow propane gas smoker from the high recommendation of a good friend who has one and uses his extensively. It arrived on time and after some painless basic assembly, I seasoned the unit using the directions included with the smoker. I was excited to christen the smoker with an offering consisting of one whole chicken, and a large pork butt (shoulder). I was NOT disappointed. The unit lights up instantly and trouble free. Temperature is easily maintained at the desired 200-220 degree mark. The entire smoker is well built and the water pan and wood fire box are constructed for many years of faithful service. With four meat racks, a BBQ aficionado can smoke just about anything you could imagine. I have since successfully smoked whole turkeys, hams (to add a smoky flavor), scallops, shrimp, fish, bratwurst, ribs, brisket, chicken, and of course my personal favorite, pork shoulder roast to produce THE BEST pulled pork sandwich. I have not yet tried it but I feel confident I could even cold smoke a slab of bacon, ham hocks or cheese in the unit if the door were to be left ajar a little with a flame low enough to just ignite the wood box, especially if…
Follow the included instructions on how to season this smoker; and after the first two smokes, you’ll discover that the door seals completely, and very little smoke escapes this smoker…. Which means that the food you are smoking really absorbs the flavor of the wood chips you choose.
And despite its space saving size, the adjustable racks make this smoker very easy to configure for odd sizes of meat. We were able fit two whole hams in at one time; and racks of ribs are a cinch.
Outdoor Leisure 34168G Smoke Hollow Gas Smoker – Very Minor Issues
While the Outdoor Leisure 34168G Smoke Hollow is a great gas smoker, it is not perfect.
First, you need to really watch the temperature on this unit. It has a tendency to run a little hot; so if you are trying to slow cook at a low temperature, keep an eye on it. The door mounted thermometer is not very accurate; we would recommend using a separate digital thermometer to monitor the temperature.
And the door handle on this gas smoker is very cheaply crafted. It didn’t line up correctly when we assembled this unit; and it gets a little warm to the touch when this smoker has been running for a while.
My final complaint was with the sticker on the door of this unit. Once assembled, this is a great looking and very functional gas smoker.
But there was a 6 inch square sticker on the door of this gas smoker which was a real pain to remove (razor blades and nail polish finally did the trick). Not a major issue; but irritating none the less.
Outdoor Leisure 34168G Smoke Hollow Gas Smoker – An Excellent Value
You may pay more for a gas smoker; but you will not find a more efficient and easy to use smoker for the money.
With plenty of room for all the food you’d like to smoke combined with the resulting high quality of the finished product make this Outdoor Leisure 34168G Smoke Hollow gas smoker a great value for the price.
